ITINERARY

SANTA FE  ISLAND

OperationDay: Every Monday
Meeting point and hour: 8h15 / At the entrance of Puerto Ayora's Church, in front of the pier and aside from the restaurant "El Descanso del Guía"
Departing pier: Puerto Ayora
Arriving pier: Itabaca Channel
Coming hour: 16h00 approx.
We will meet at Puerto Ayora's pier early in the morning, begin the adventure, and head toward Santa Fe Island. Once we have embarked on the Galaxy Daily, we will sail for a couple of hours to enjoy the view and the soft Galapagos Sea breeze.
Did you know that Santa Fe Island is one of the oldest islands in the entire Galapagos archipelago? Indeed, Santa Fe has underwater rock formations dating back approximately 4 million years. Its relatively flat surface is the result of tectonic uplift.
Did you know that at Santa Fe, we can find one of this island's most iconic endemic species? That's the Santa Fe land iguana, a very characteristic yellowish iguana. The other endemic species is the Santa Fe rice rat; don't worry! This small rat only appears at night.
During this day of adventure, we will also be able to appreciate the largest species of opuntia cactus and the Galapagos hawk (the largest predator on the island), the blue-footed booby, the Galapagos sea lion, the magnificent frigate birds, and the marine iguana, also known as the Galapagos dragon due to its peculiar appearance.
The landing in Santa Fe will be wet, so we will have to jump on the impressive white sand beach.
Several sea lions will immediately receive us, inviting us to start a walk to look for the resident species of Santa Fe.
Once the walk ends, we can swim in the Encañada. Here, we can snorkel and observe sea turtles, rays, sea lions, and colorful fish while swimming in this island's warm, crystalline waters.
In this itinerary, we will enjoy a delicious lunch on board the Galaxy Daily before a short rest and later navigation back to Santa Cruz Island.
As we conclude this incredible day of exploration on Santa Fe Island, we will head to the Itabaca Channel. From there, we'll take a bus ride of approximately 35 minutes to Puerto Ayora, where this unforgettable adventure will come to an end.

NORTH SEYMOUR / BACHAS BEACH

Operation Day: Every Tuesday
Meeting point and hour: 8h15 / At the entrance of Puerto Ayora's Church, in front of the pier and aside from the restaurant "El Descanso del Guía"
Departing pier: Itabaca
Arriving pier: Itabaca
Coming hour: 16h00 approx.
North Seymour
Today we will join the tour group at the indicated meeting point and time. Then, we will depart by bus to the Itabaca Channel, where we will board the Galaxy Daily, thus beginning our adventure to North
Seymour Island.
This island is located north of Santa Cruz Island. It is known for its large colonies of blue-footed boobies and frigate birds, known as the Galapagos pirates.
After arriving in North Seymour, we will have a dry landing and immediately start hiking on a 2.5 km (1.55 miles) trail. We can go clockwise along the coast or head inland first to visit the colony of boobies.
During this tour, we will access the nesting sites of the largest breeding colonies on the islands. We will then understand why Seymour is known for its rich wildlife.
Get ready to spot land iguanas and marine iguanas; also, a colony of sea lions, lava lizards, and pelicans!
While we advance along the path, we will observe several trees where the male and female frigates nest. As we continue through the trail, the terrain will become rocky. Then, we will have the opportunity to appreciate the nesting place of the spectacular blue-footed boobies. This species is fascinating for its courtship dance in which they can dance for hours until finally captivating the female attention to nesting together.
Did you know that these boobies never build a nest? That is because a ring of white guano marks their nesting area.
If you like plants, we will see some endemic flora species in North Seymour during the walk, such as Opuntia, Croton, Castela, and Sesuvium cacti.
Bachas Beach
After we visit North Seymour and have a delicious lunch aboard, we will go to the beach known as Bachas, located north of Santa Cruz Island. Here we can snorkel or take a relaxing walk on the beach.
For this, we will make a wet landing, in which we will jump from the panga to the shore of the beach.
Again, we recommend disembarking barefoot and wearing light walking shoes for the rest of the journey.
Bachas beach is lovely, ideal for swimming, with a lagoon behind and a longer coast for walking and wildlife watching. The saltwater lagoon behind the beach often has great blue herons and small birds.
Both the large and small beaches are nesting areas for green sea turtles.
As for snorkeling, during the activity, we may see many types of colorful reef fish and various rays, among other marine species.
At the end of our experience in Bachas, we will return to the Itabaca Channel. Then, we will be transferred to Puerto Ayora's pier to end our day-long adventure.

Bartolome Island
Our adventure to Bartolomé Island will begin at the indicated meeting place and time. With its iconic pinnacle, this island is located northwest of Santa Cruz. Here we will have the opportunity to see one of the most beautiful landscapes of the Galapagos Islands while learning about the volcanic origins of the Islands.
Upon arriving at Bartolome, we will have a dry landing. Then, we will begin the walk along a path that will take us to the top of the island. The 395 steps will end with a spectacular panoramic view of the island and its pinnacle, being the moment to take that stunning photo of our trip.
We will observe small lava tunnels from the last eruption during the walk. Here endemic vegetation grows, such as lava cacti and tiquilla plants, generally surrounded by Darwin's finches.
Did you know that volcanic ash made Pinnacle Rock?
After being impressed by the view from this point, we will enjoy a zodiac ride along the coast. Then, with some luck, we will see the only tropical penguin and the second smallest in the world, the penguin from Galapagos.
Sullivan Bay
After a breathtaking experience in Bartolome, we will enjoy a succulent lunch onboard the Galaxy Daily. Then, we will head towards Sullivan Bay, where we will enjoy the marine fauna of the Galapagos while we snorkel.
Sullivan Bay is one of the most beautiful places in the Galapagos to snorkel due to its crystal-clear waters!

We will begin our walk along a path through an Opuntia Cactus forest. Don't be distracted by landscape beauty; we must watch out for our steps. There are many land iguanas, the smallest species in the archipelago!
Continuing our tour, we will reach the fantastic, windy cliff. Here, the red-billed tropical birds, swallowtailed gulls, brown pelicans, and the impressive frigate bird usually fly around. The trail meanders along the edge of the ridge for a few hundred meters.
While we continue our walk, we will find the well-known "single sea lion colony": a heterogeneous collection of male sea lions, mostly elderly, who have lost their territories. Yet, surprisingly, they climb up the cliff via some rocky steps.
Can you spot some of the battle scars and shark bites that many of these lone sea lions have on their bodies?
Carrion Point
After lunch onboard the Galaxy Daily, we will discover the Galapagos marine fauna while snorkeling.
With some luck, we will see white-tip sharks and a great variety of fish, sea turtles, and rays.
